- TIM TEBOW, ANGELS OUTFIELDER - Does that headline seem a little ridiculous to you? As crazy as it sounds, this was almost reality. On Thursday, longtime baseball scout Tom Kotchman told Boston sports radio network WEEI that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were very interested in drafting Tebow after his senior season at Ponte Vedra (Fla.) Nease High. At the time, Kotchman was one of the lead scouts for the team. According to him, the only reason they did not select him was because he never sent back his information card. “We wanted to draft him,” Kotchman told WEEI. “But he never sent back his information card. Either it never got to him, or … it’s Tim Tebow. Who knows if it got to him, and if it did we just never got it back. Otherwise we were going to take him.” Tebow was nearly as successful one the baseball diamond as he was on the football field, batting .494 his entire JR year before signing a scholarship from the Florida Gators to play football. It was then where he decided to focus only on football in his SR year of high school. We may never know what would have been, but it sure it fun to think about what could have been.
