COLTS RB VICK BALLARD OUT FOR SEASON AFTER SUFFERING KNEE INJURY IN PRACTICE - Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard is out for the remainder of the 2013 NFL season after suffering a knee injury in practice on Thursday, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports. This is a huge loss for the Colts. While Ballard is not a big name in the league, he’s a strong pass protector and receiver. The team did sign former Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw late in the offseason, so that help in relieve the blow of losing Ballard. But Bradshaw isn’t built to “carry the load” at this stage of his career.Ballard had 63 yards on 13 carries last week, and the Colts were hoping to split carries between him and Bradshaw throughout the year. Now, former first-rounder Donald Brown is back in the mix, but he’s been a big disappointment since he arrived in Indy. The other option is to bring back Delone Carter who the team traded to the Ravens during the preseason. He was eventually released by the Ravens and is still available. (Photo: colts.com)
